Steve Shepple, Indiana born (and reborn!)
I originally applied to become an Ambassador for the
Presidential Prayer Team. On the application, I was asked to
"Please share your Christian testimony and experience."
Here's what I wrote ....
My wife, Jeannie, was a "cradle Catholic." When we married in
1969, I was an Agnostic. Through the first 10 years, Jeannie
exhibited an inner strength that I couldn't understand.
After 2 kids and typical hard times that all married couples face,
I like to say she "loved" me into the church in 1980 when we
attended a program called "Parish Renewal." I was especially
moved by the statement that "kids tend to see their Heavenly
Father much like they see their earthly father."
It was then that I better understood why I wasn't more spiritual
-- my dad wasn't! I didn't want that for MY kids, plus I really was
impressed by the moral values and beliefs that I saw the
Catholic Church stood for, so I converted and have been quite
involved ever since.
